Aletsch: The Last Giant

More than 10 years ago, the renowned Swiss photographer Jürg Kaufmann began photographing Swiss glaciers. During countless glacier hikes and expeditions, he has quietly compiled an impressive collection of glacier photographs.

"Glaciers serve as a giant thermometer for our planet; they mercilessly show us the consequences of climate change."

The climate is changing; science and the media remind us of this every day. We see the effects at the glacier tongues, but what does it look like further up?

Jürg Kaufmann takes us onto the glacier, which is changing slowly and steadily.

Rivers, crevasses, snowfields, glacier calving—a natural system that is still almost untouched. A multimedia show packed with unique footage of the Alps’ largest water reservoir, our Aletsch Glacier.
