Kicking off a ten-year journey: A look at the first week.
The first week of our ten-year journey with Glaciers.Today is now behind us, and it was nothing short of incredible. We are especially grateful to everyone who made this possible, particularly our sponsor Lunor and our local partner Diavolezza, without whom this project could not have been realized.
The technical solution we have developed over the past few years with great patience in collaboration with our partner Avisec has proven to be extremely effective. As with any groundbreaking project, there are areas for improvement—for example, protecting our high-resolution cameras from potential winter storms. But these are challenges we are happy to take on, as we constantly strive to improve and innovate.
The images from our first week were breathtaking. From the ethereal dawn that adorns the icy peaks to the mysterious twilight that bathes the mountains in fascinating silhouettes, our cameras capture the alpine amphitheater in all its magnificent moods. It is this dynamic theatrical landscape of light, shadow, and color that brings home the realization—our vision of a high-resolution glacier photo documentation is becoming a reality.
This project goes beyond simply capturing still images; it aims to tell a compelling story of these majestic ice giants as they transform under the influence of climate change. It is an exciting, meaningful story, and we are only just getting started.
We owe our early successes and learning opportunities to the unwavering support of Lunor and the unique location that Diavolezza has provided us. They have made a significant contribution to turning our vision into reality, for which we are deeply grateful.
With Glaciers.Today, we hope to invite everyone to join this conversation, with the aim of making a meaningful contribution to the future.
As we continue our expedition into the heart of our planet’s frozen guardians, we look forward to having you join us on this journey. Here’s to many more weeks of discovery, appreciation, and understanding of our natural world through the eyes of Glaciers.Today—and, of course, to new sponsors, partners, and generous donations.
