Snow-capped mountain peaks in a cloudy landscape

Glaciers are like our planet's fever thermometers; they show us the harsh truth about climate change.

Jürg Kaufmann

A happy elderly man dressed for winter, wearing ski boots and carrying skis, sitting on a snow-covered rock in the mountains under a clear sky.

While scientists research and debate the causes, my images depict the transformation of nature. Humans often place themselves at the center of it all.

But nature never sleeps: it changes quietly yet powerfully, regardless of trends. There is an impressive beauty in this honesty of change, and in a polarized society, it is more valuable than ever.

It serves as a reminder that we are not the center of the universe, but merely guests in nature.

Right in the heart of the stunning Bernina region, super close to the measuring station on Piz Corvatsch, two high-resolution camera systems document Piz Palü, Piz Bernina, Biancograt, and Persgletscher every 30 minutes.

The storm- and weather-resistant system is powered entirely by solar energy.
All images are made available to the global public in real time on glaciers.today immediately after they are captured.
We are also building the most comprehensive archive. To date, we have collected over 30,000 high-resolution photographs in a well-organized archive.

Photos can add to what measurements tell us, sparking conversations in our homes, meeting rooms, and even in our thoughts.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of these photos go directly into developing and maintaining this long-term study.

This project kicked off thanks to some great partnerships. Together with Lunor Kull AG, Bergbahnen Diavolezza Lagalp, and the tech from Avisec AG, we're making a statement about using resources mindfully.
